I am the Shropshire and a parish councillor for Albrighton, elected in May 2021. I am married and have two grown up boys, who both attended St Mary’s primary from 1997 onwards when we moved into Boningale. I’ve just become a Granddad for a second time and we now have two beautiful granddaughters. As a youngster I moved around the country, as my father was a prison officer. I was used to service quarters and starting new schools, so can relate to service residents in the village. We settled down near Stafford, where we stayed until I joined the police in 1980. I stayed in service for 30 years, working in urban areas of the West Midlands. I have since worked as a supervisor for a home oxygen company and my final five working years as a Fabric Manager, (a supervising caretaker!) for a secondary Academy in Telford. My early retirement three years ago has provided the time to commit to the people of Albrighton via my councillor work and to a smaller extent voluntary work. My mother is experiencing the dementia journey and just starting the fight for the funding for her care home place.

I have lived in Albrighton for 46 years.
I became a Councillor in 1998 to help support the residents and to give a voice to residents whom felt unable to be heard. I have been a councillor for 25 years and I love it.
I have worked hard for the village, most notably were my endeavours to secure the Library building for the next 125 years. I worked with Shropshire Council and the Library Service and after much negotiation it was agreed that Albrighton Parish Council would be granted the lease. The building was refurbished and the Parish Council Office created. It was the right decision and the Library is well used. I officially opened the Library on the 18th of April 2016.
I have been Chairman of Albrighton Parish Council for three years, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2021-2022 and vice-Chairman for two years.
I have always been actively involved with village life and support many of the local groups. I along with 3 other patients started the Albrighton Medical Practice Patients Group in 2001. I also support the Food Bank, and I started and run the Bereavement Support Group. I support Citizens Advice Shropshire (CAB) and each year raise funds to keep the service in Albrighton for all our residents.
I was a volunteer with victim support for over 10 years and trained to support victims of sexual assault, rape, and domestic violence and I supported families bereaved by murder and road deaths. I also ran the Telford Scheme for 4 years and also supported victims for their court appearances and I helped with their claims for the criminal compensation scheme.
I started volunteering when I was 11 years old by becoming the class rep secondary school. Then the course rep in further education college and course rep and social rep and organised the end of course balls etc. at teacher training college. I have volunteered ever since including the district swimming pool in Albrighton, PTA at all the schools my children attended and governor at New House Lane Primary School, Idsall School and teacher governor at Madeley Court School.

I have lived in the Village of Albrighton since 1988. I was born in Kent in 1950 (Romney Marsh). I moved to London at 16, later joined the merchant navy and after three years as a 1st
Class Silver waiter I joined the Royal Air Force and was a photographer for 24 years. On leaving the RAF I joined Morris Springs at Ettingshall as a spring design engineer and retired after 18 years as their Sales Manager.
I have been married to my wife Sally for 50 years this year (2022). I have three children who all attended the local schools, and I have 4 grandchildren.
I joined the Parish Council in 2021, it has always been my desire to work within the local community and make a difference within the community where I can. I am currently the Chairman for the Albrighton War Memorial Restoration Project and sit on a number of Committees within the Parish Council.
I am an allotment holder at Albrighton Allotments, I am a committee member of The Melville Club, I am a local bell ringer, I am a Freemason in local Lodges and in my spare time I keep bees & help other beekeepers.
