Refurbishment of the War Memorial

Albrighton Parish Council are committed and dedicated to the project to refurbish the Albrighton War Memorial.
The refurbishment project is of enormous important and significant historical value for those who are remembered, the relatives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, the community and all armed forces.  There are many layers of work required for this refurbishment project, this is being co-ordinated by the Albrighton War Memorial Working Group.  The working group’s main objective is to ensure the memorial is being treated with the respect and specialist expertise required.
The inaugural meeting of the Albrighton War Memorial Working group was held on the 20th of January 2022, the Chairman of the working group is Councillor Richard Webster and other members of the working group are fellow Councillors and members of the community.

Project information

Current Project:

The creation of the Albrighton War Memorial Working Group and project scope was agreed.
Currently Jubb Clews is working on the submission of the listed building consent to obtain permission for the restoration work and complete a market test (tender process) for the contract to complete the repair and refurbishment works identified by Chris Pyke.

Project History:

In 2019 Albrighton Parish Council engaged with and commissioned for the architect Chris Pyke to complete a structural report and for Elliot Ryder to complete a review and supply a current condition of the war memorial.  This was for the Parish Council to understand the proposals for the refurbishment and obtain accurate budget costings, to ensure the long-term preservation of the War Memorial.
Due to Covid-19 and the restrictions the refurbishment project was postponed.
