Coffee Morning Fundraiser for Albrighton War Memorial Restoration Project

Coffee Morning Fundraiser for Albrighton War Memorial Restoration Project – hosted by Albrighton Craft Group

Albrighton Craft Group held a Coffee Morning and Craft Sale at Albrighton Parish Council Office and Library on Thursday 27th June 2024 to raise funds for the Albrighton War Memorial Restoration Project.

We are immensely grateful that the Albrighton Craft Group ladies were keen to help raise funds towards the Restoration Process by holding a Coffee Morning. The Craft Group work hard to raise funds for local groups, projects and organisations within the village. They selflessly commit their time and resources voluntarily to support their local community, and work together as a team to bring the community together. Albrighton is very lucky and proud to have such a fantastic group with community spirit amongst us. Lots of Coffee/Tea, Cake and Handcrafted items were available on the day, the sun was shining and lots of happy and friendly faces visited! We are pleased to announce that £337.87 was raised!

On behalf of Albrighton Parish Council, we would like to thank the ladies at the Albrighton Craft Group and thank all of our community who attended on Thursday to raise funds!

Author Visit! The Night Whale by Bryher Mackenzie

The Night Whale by Bryher Mackenzie

“For daydreamers and the young at heart, this stunningly illustrated journey through a star-encrusted sky captures the beauty of our world—and of bonds that cannot be broken by any kind of distance.”

On Saturday 22nd June 2024, Albrighton Parish Council and Library hosted an author visit from Bryher Mackenzie who has recently published her first book, ‘The Night Whale’.  We are so pleased to see how many children (and adults) enjoyed The Night Whale and are so grateful for being able to host the wonderful author, Bryher!

Thank you to The book-ends Wellington for joining us on the day to sell Bryher’s book – who we are pleased to have supported and hosted for ‘Independent Book Shop Week’

As always, thank you to our lovely Librarian, Lauren, for co-ordinating the event

Lastly, thank you to all the children and adults who attended the event, we hope you had a fantastic morning listening to the tale of The Night Whale!

New Defibrillator for the Community!

Positive news for Albrighton! A new defibrillator in the community

Albrighton Parish Council working in partnership with The Harp Albrighton and Albrighton First Responders are pleased to inform the community that an additional defibrillator is now available in the BT phone box on the High Street for use in an emergency.

This defibrillator was kindly donated to The Harp and monies were raised by members of the public to ensure more defibs are readily available in our community. The remaining funds raised will go towards any defib maintenance requiredover the coming years.

Albrighton Parish Council adopted the decommissioned BT phone box in December 2023 after the opportunity arose for the transfer of ownership from BT to local authorities.

Albrighton Parish Council are the custodians of the defib in the BT Phone box outside The Harp and the defib located on the wall outside of The Red House
To find out more information about what Defibs are available in our community, please visit: https://www.defibfinder.uk/

Albrighton Parish Council are investigating the costs for refurbishing the condition of the BT Phone box to brighten it up and ensure it’s visible the new intended use.
